Faith-Centred and Christian Counselling Services
At The Whitestone Clinic, we believe that everyone needs to receive help with their mental health struggles regardless of creed or religion.
We feel called upon to include God in our sessions with fellow believers, if this is something you would like to incorporate into your therapy sessions. We appreciate the particular shame that may accompany certain struggles within a church community context. Prayer, scripture and other appropriate resources are added to our work with Christ followers.
We know how important it can be to receive counselling from someone who understands your belief system. Our therapists have experience and education in working with clients from many different church backgrounds, from clergy to seekers. This is open to individual counselling as well as couples counselling. Our faith focused counselling is also available in areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction.
Those who would like to bring Christ into their therapy sessions can benefit from spiritual well-being, hope, and healing while also learning skills to help you overcome your mental health struggles.
This service is also open to other faiths as well as non-denominational. If you have questions about our faith-based counselling, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.
NEW: Bridging Faith – Christian Therapy Group
Interested or Have Further Questions?
Program Goal:
To understand the roots of negative thinking patterns under attachment theory and through a biblical lens; bridging the gap between our logical thinking, what feels true, and our behaviors through a personal and intimate relationship with God; and to overcome our mental health concerns as a result of this bridged gap.
Suitable if you:
Struggle with mental health concerns, enjoy self-reflection, find psychology interesting, would like a Christian framework when working on mental health, sincerely want to draw closer to God, and find there’s a frustrating inconsistency between what you logically believe, feel to be true, and how you behave.
If you are a Christian that believes in Scripture but can’t seem to live out or experience the promises of His Word, then joining a Christian therapy group might be for you.
If you enjoy self-reflecting, are interested in psychology, and would like to work on your mental health through a Christian foundation, then I’d like to invite you to Bridging Faith – a Christian therapy group that will run on Monday evenings from 6:15-8:15pm.
With commitment, the goal is to uncover your own personal barrier(s) to a felt experience of the Gospel under a mental health lens. By defining different beliefs, the group will explore attachment theory and how these beliefs are connected to core biblical concepts that will provide a psychological framework for understanding God, your own experiences growing up, and how a genuinely personal and intimate relationship with God can bring the healing you may’ve been seeking throughout your life.
With mental health on the rise, being a Christian can be challenging even though it’s quite common for believers to resort to their faith for spiritual support.
Unsurprisingly, it’s also common for many Christians to experience mental health concerns even though they wholeheartedly believe that such worries can be overcome or joyfully endured through their faith and relationship with God. Have you ever wondered about that?
Christians know that suffering is to be expected in this world, especially when there are many things beyond our control. We read about this in John 16:33, where Jesus said, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” In response, Christians often handle this suffering by getting more involved in their faith community as a way to lean into God. Yet somehow, they still feel stuck in their unhelpful thinking patterns. It’s as if something is getting in the way no matter how much effort they invest into their faith. If this is your experience, then Bridging Faith may work for you.
