Rachelle McKinnon, MDiv (Clinical Counselling)
MDiv (Clinical Counselling), Independent Contractor
Rachelle has always had a passion for hearing the authentic and unmasked stories of individuals from all walks of life. No story is insignificant, too small, or too messy. She provides counselling for a variety of life challenges including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, boundaries, traumatic circumstances, betrayal trauma, life transitions and balance, spirituality, coping skills, and self-esteem.
She has a special interest in working with those who have experienced trauma. Having seen firsthand and in the testimonies of others the devastation and confusion that occurs while walking through sexual and betrayal trauma, she has a heart for coming alongside individuals in traumatic circumstances who are seeking a safe place to search for meaning, control and healing.
Rachelle’s approach to counselling is to provide a warm, safe and inviting space for each client to share their story, while bringing her genuine self to each encounter and providing empathy, support and tools so clients feel heard and safe to be themselves and work together towards their goals.
Rachelle primarily uses person-centred, cognitive-behavioural and attachment approaches to counselling, and is educated in both culturally competent counselling and the integration of counselling and spirituality. She holds an MDiv in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale University and is a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals. From June 1st 2020 onwards, her counselling practice will be supervised by clinical psychologist Dr. Tracy Dalgleish.
