Ken Riddell has worked in counselling since 2001, the first seven years for a small non-profit agency. He began specializing in sexual addiction recovery in 2004. He has worked with a number of clients suffering from past sexual abuse and/or post-traumatic stress disorder. In 2008 he went into private practice as an individual and couples therapist.

He has a heart for sexual addiction recovery and works with men who want to be freed of the cycle of shame and pain, and with couples whose relationship has been affected by sexual addiction. His approach is to use a variety of tools and techniques, including but not limited to emotionally focused and systems therapy.

Ken’s believes that deep healing is needed for full sexual addiction recovery. This includes answering the question ‘what caused the behaviour?’, and applying treatment to this.  He believes that a good connection between the therapist and client is critical to the success of this process.

In the mid-1990s Ken felt called to change careers and pursue an education as a counsellor. He obtained a Masters Degree in Pastoral Counselling from Saint Paul University, Ottawa. He also holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Ottawa (cum laude), a Certificate in Counselling from Ontario Bible College (now Tyndale), Toronto and a Diploma in Print Journalism from Algonquin College, Ottawa.

Ken Riddell is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) since 2009.

Alongside his private practice, Ken is pleased to share his experience and offer his services part-time as an Independent Contractor to The Whitestone Clinic at our main location, and also at off-site locations near TD Place and in Kanata.
